Started off the New Year very Busy, Wishing all our customers a very Happy and Prosperous 2017. Don’t forget we have the new IOSH working Safely course needed to apply for the Labourers Green Card running on 16th February.
A security company based in Barnsley, a town which last year saw the tragic death of a child on a local construction site, has put together some materials aimed at primary school age children, designed to encourage them to steer clear of construction sites.
The material was not developed by the company in isolation. They involved their local education authority and a focus group of construction companies to help produce something that they hope will have a positive effect.

Martin & Charlotte attended the United Kingdom Asbestos Training Association AGM last week in Derby and had a fantastic time, very interesting talk from Dr Chris Warburton – Consultant Physician, Aintree Chest Centre about the effects of Asbestos on the human body and an inspiring marketing talk from Mr Geoff Ramm of OMG Marketing. We took on board some of his tips and going forward will be introducing these techniques reaching out to our customers so keep a look out. Great to be receiving calls from friends and contacts of customers who have previously and currently undertaking training with us. Thanks to you all!!

Provisional annual data for work-related fatal accidents in Great Britain’s workplaces has been released today.
Ptovisional figures indicate that 144 people were killed while at work in 2015/2016 – up from 142 in 2014/5.
The Health and Safety Executive has called on all sectors to learn lessons to ensure workers return home safe from work.
Martin Temple, HSE Chair said:
“One death at work or life needlessly shortened, is one too many and behind every statistic lies a real story of loss and heartbreak and families left to grieve.
“Britain has one of the best health and safety systems in the world, but we should always be looking to improve and to prevent incidents that cost lives.
The new figures show the rate of fatal injuries in key industrial sectors:
There were also 103 members of the public fatally injured in accidents connected to work in 2015/16, of which 36 (35 percent) related to incidents occurring on railways.
The statistics again confirm the UK to be one of the safest places to work in Europe, having one of the lowest rates of fatal injuries to workers in leading industrial nations.
HSE has also released the latest available figures on deaths from asbestos-related cancer. Mesothelioma, one of the few work related diseases where deaths can be counted directly, contracted through past exposure to asbestos killed 2,515 in Great Britain in 2014 compared to 2,556 in 2013.

Pleased to announce that we have a new trainer on board offering First Aid at Work training and from the feedback we have received he is going down very well. We also have a new lady in the office by the name of Marian so welcome to her!
This week Martin is travelling the North Norfolk Coastline visiting some of our customers and both of us will be attending the UKATA AGM on Friday. Will bring you more from the World of Health & Safety soon.
